Important Hotel Accommodation Considerations : Finding the right hotel accommodation that will meet your needs and expectations is almost like looking for a needle in a haystack. Not quite, but almost love it. If you are the type of traveler who has certain preferences, finding a hotel that suits you, well in advance of your itinerary, can be of great help.
A travel agent will be a good starting point for your research. Moreover, online travel guides will also be able to assist you in making the right hotel choice. But before you get into the quick points of finding the right hotel accommodation, here are a few questions you should be prepared to answer:
1. Are you planning a vacation or a business trip?
2. Are you traveling with babies or children?
3. Do you prefer city center hotels, airport hotels or city hotels?
4. What is your budget?
5. How many days do you plan to stay?
Having the answers to the questions above will help you set your sights on a particular type of accommodation and will help you make the most of your trip. For most parents like me, I base my hotel preferences on three criteria I’ve created over my years of traveling:
SAFETY: The first ground rule should include considerations of the safety of me and my little girl. Every year when we plan our trips, I consider hotels conveniently located near police stations, first aid posts, clinics or hospitals, and even fire stations. If we are going to travel very far like last year’s island hopping adventure, I choose to check in hotel accommodation which includes 24 hour security, sufficient hotel staff to assist you in any way, with a pool that is always guarded by a “life guard” “, and most importantly, have a fireproof plan and a great fire extinguisher.
It is also important to note that hotels that have garnered three, four and five star ratings will provide their best security and safety assistance to their hotel guests. However, if you prefer a more intimate and private setting, I’ve found that bed and breakfasts, travel inns, inns, and business hotels also put safety first in their considerations.
CONVENIENCE: Finding a grocery store, pharmacy, or even a parlor should be possible if you are the type of traveler who would put convenience on your list of preferences. Hotel accommodations are now being marketed by the convenience they offer their hotel guests. Most of the hotels can be found in the center of the metropolis or the city center where good restaurants, shopping malls, recreation centers and relaxation centers are within arm’s reach.
Even far-flung hotels designated for weekend getaways, honeymoons, and quiet retreats also mark comfort in their priority. These hotels provide additional services such as in-hotel massages and spas, free internet connection, in-room food service, and parlors, boutiques and gift shops, restaurants, coffee shops and bars.
It is also important to know if the hotel you are considering provides airport transfers and there is a steady flow of transport for your easy journey. If you are traveling abroad, it is also important to consider that your hotel is located near a foreign exchange exchange or bank.
BUDGET: Hotel accommodations abound and the only way to narrow our choices is if we set our budget from the start. Most hotels offer packages where a discount can be given if we stay more than one night or if we take advantage of more than one room for a group traveling together. For long stays such as a month or two, hotel accommodations may offer significantly lower rates and additional amenities.
For whatever hotel accommodations you choose, and whatever preferences you have, always keep three things in mind: Safety, Comfort and Budget. This will help you achieve a stress-free vacation or business trip and will allow you to make the most of your travel plans.
